Not sure, but up here at a local Casino, they had this event going on. It was pretty fun, but those rules were pretty hard to get. All those cards meaning points and all that. Anyone else play before?

I played with my grandmother when I was a kid but I don’t remember a thing about the game. Don’t you keep score or something? If it’s a complicated game and I’ve got money at stake I’m better off avoiding it.

I adore canasta. My grandmother taught me too but I didn’t know you could play canasta at a casino? My mom and aunts usually have a friendly game using quarters as chips. I join in when I have time.

I’ve heard of canasta but have never played before. To me it seems like an older persons game but I could be wrong. So how do you play canasta and what are the rules? It sounds like it could be fun to play with friends.

First off, you need two decks of cards. Everyone is dealed a certain amount of cards (bear with me here, it’s been a long time!) and you and your partner have to put down cards of the same suit to a certain point (getting 7 down) and in which your have a canasta. Then, after you get at least one, you or your partner can go ‘out’ and get rid of all your cards. You count up points and round 1 is done. You keep going till you reach 5000. Of course, one bad round can through you off totally, so you can never be off guard.

Hmm I’ll have to try playing this game. I’ve never played it either and I think it would be fun to play with friends on the weekend or something. How many people do you need in order to play the game?

4 people and yes! It’s a great game to play with other card-loving friends! I’m sure you can find a really good explanation online of this game. Sorry, but my memory is a little fuzzy with card points and all that.

I’ve played this before with my friends and my parents before. It’s pretty fun and can get really intense. You’re right though about the score changing dramatically! It does! I’ve lost and won a lot of games because of that.

Never played it but it sounds fun. My friend Michelle knows a bunch of card games, so I’ll ask her about it. She should know how to play this.

I have never gotten the hang of this game and that seldom happens. The only other game I can think of that I never picked up on right away was some name that of course slips my mind at the time being. :D

I love canasta. It’s fun and very social. My parents play quite a lot, but none of my friends know how. My grandparents used to play an even more involved version of the game called Bolivia which had three decks of cards and more items to collect before you could go ‘out’ and win each hand.

Oh wow. I haven’t played Bolivia in years and years! In fact I didn’t know anyone else had ever heard of the game other than my family. I love that game it’s way more fun than canasta.
