Does it not seem ridiculous that you can commit your life to someone, have sex and have children but you can not gamble or drink? I understand gambling can be addictive but you can over come that. If you have a child at 18, you can not put it back in the womb. Surely the age of consent should be the same for everything. Make it all 21 then hopefully we can have a cleaner world. At 18 you are not adult enough to understand long term commitment because at 18, long term is a few weeks.

I have to agree to either lower it all to 18 or raise it all to 21. I think I am more in favor of 21 but at the same time, that means parents remain responsible for their children until they are 21 also. It’s incomprehensible to me that at 18, a young man can go off to war but cannot have a beer or make a wager legally.

I think it should all be legal at 18, seriously. It was hard enough to wait till you’re ‘legal’, but waiting till you’re 21 to officially drink a cold one is a little odd to me. You’d think it would be the other way around, seriously. I agree with you.

LOL You guys live in the wrong country. We’re allowed to gamble and drink at 18 in Australia. Of course, now I’ve said this I understand that it’s probably too young to be doing these things anyway

This is just another thing about our country that confuses me. I think the laws are put into place to keep people out of trouble, but honestly, if you’re 18 and want to gamble you’re going to find a way to do it. Not in a casino but on the streets, in a college frat house, at your best buddy’s bachelor party, etc.

You can’t gamble because of the alcohol that is served at the casino’s. The drinking age is 21 so in turn you can’t gamble. I personally think that it should be 21 because it gives you a couple more years to grow up.

Well you can marry at 18 which is also a sort of gamble. Only difference between marriage & gambling is that, in marriage you would feel as if you are in great profit, atleast initially! Once you’ve been married for 3-4 years, it becomes worse than gambling!

Gambling and marriage are two different things. Well I guess, minors were not allowed to gamble because they cannot provide resources for themselves yet. I mean, they would be spending their parent’s money, right? A child can very well decide for himself when he turned 18, that is why they are allowed to get marry. Those situations involves different consequences.

Whoa! That was a good thought of yours. Why not? Sound reasonable. Marriage and having kids is a lot of responsibility already. Which means at that age people are already aware of everything around them completely.

Yes, correct. Maybe the congress should look into that.

That depends now actually. 21 maybe odd for you but for others it is right and 18 is odder.

Ha ha ha! It seems to me that you’ve been married for sometime now with that reaction.
