I think that could cover many areas so let me break down some things I will not do when I play.

- drink heavy
- assume that I will always win, there is always someone bigger & badder than you (never think there isn’t, thats when you lose your shirt)
- bet more than I have (ever)
- max bet a game I am not familiar with
- let my guard down (thats when you get had)

Good strategy. I have never understood how some people can bet the max on something they don’t know how to play well. That just doesn’t make any sense. It’s a good way to lose “stupidly”.

You have some good guidelines - common sense really - but still good. It never fails to surprise me how many people gamble on games they have no idea about and then wonder why they lose.

I think those are some good point to bring up.  You know that common sense is not so common these days, sometimes we all need a reminder of how to keep our head on straight when it comes to gaming.

One of the most important thing I have observed in my career is that you should try to safeguard your money first and only then try to win some. In this way you can slowly and steadily keep on piling up your fortune. If you play too aggressively you would loose at one point or another.

Great post. I think that if newbies play by this rules they would have successful gambling career. Moreover as freedog said above, its more important to save your money and only then try to win some.

Well some good basic tips and like others I too would suggest newbies to follow it. Keeping rules is very important as gambling is all about fun and discipline.
