I know baccarat is foreign to most people, but has anyone here played the game? I find it to be incredibly relaxing. There isn’t much involvement needed by the player, but can be incredibly communal like blackjack or craps (where everyone is playing against a dealer rather than each other). Many casinos don’t have it unless you go to a VIP or High Roller section, but I wish they would bring it back for us commoners.

Never played it and know absolutely nothing about it. I don’t think I’ve seen it in the casinos I’ve been to. But then I didn’t look for it either so maybe it was overlooked.

What exactly do you do? The one thing I like about blackjack is the fact that you do play a dealer. Maybe I should learn more about baccarat if that’s the case with it.

I found this link with an explanation of baccarat. I couldn’t really explain it better than they did.

The betting is kind of like craps though, no one really bets against the player (or themselves). You normally won’t see the table unless you are looking for it though as they move it away from the casino floor generally.

Baccarat is not like craps, far from it. You can bet against other players. Provided your not on the same side. Its just a choice of betting on player or banker. In case both of you bet on banker then your up against the house who is now the player.

as long as I have been playing both craps and baccarat, I hardly see anyone bet against the thrower in craps or bet for the banker in baccarat. Can you bet against a thrower or bet for the banker? Of course you can. It’s just not widely done.

Yes, it doesn’t seem fair that is a casino game is not popular enough it is only in the high rollers section.  You think it would be the other way around, if it was cheaper, this may bring more players to the table.

That’s good logic, pokerface. Maybe if they allowed us commoners to play with reduced betting amounts down in the regular section then maybe we could bring popularity back to the game itself?

I’ve played it maybe once or twice. I hope to play it again - I thought it was fun. My friend used to have a baccarat table, but I think it got smashed. I’ll have to see if Mohegan Sun has one. That’s our local casino here.

I’ve heard of it but have never played it before. I don’t really know the rules of the game either. I guess I’ll have to look this one up to get a better perspective of it.

I watched a friend play for a few hours one night and I got so confused. There were 12 players and 3 dealers - so that lost me right away. Then they were adding up cards but anything over a 10 or a face card isn’t worth anything. I think the object is to add them all up to 9 or as close to 9 as possible. Weird.
