Dane Cook is probably one of my favorite comedians on TV now. I think it’s so funny that he takes everyday things and makes them into a 10 minute long, and totally true, epic. For example, his crying thing he did. I recommend looking that up, because it’s just so true! Has anyone else here heard of him? Feel free to discuss other comedians as well.

I think Dane Cook is amazing! I think my favorite thing by him is hit by a car. It gets me everytime, especially the twisty-cone thing!

It’s a comedian’s job to do that, really. But I agree, I really like Dane Cook! He’s hilarious. There’s a lot of animations that go with his jokes on YouTube that crack me up.

Personally, I think Dane Cook isn’t that funny. To me, all he seems to do is pick a situation and cuss like a sailor while describing it painfully slowly. Sorry guys, but I just can’t get into him.

I agree with BS, here. He’s just popular because of myspace and teenagers. His movies are pretty terrible, too. But I never was into romantic comedies. Anyway, I don’t think he’s worth bashing on because God knows what’s funny in this generation but he’s just not my type of funny.

Aww, boo! He just lightens me up. And you can’t blame him for bad movies; that’s the director’s problem. If he was reading from a good script, I’m sure it’d be a good movie. Good Luck Chuck wasn’t bad!

Eh, I guess. But an actor usually has the choice on whether or not to be a part of a movie. If he read the script, he would have known it sucked but like I said, I can’t really say since it’s not my thing. I just don’t see him being in anything decent (to my tastes). Like that movie “The Rocker,” they wanted Jack Black to be the star but he refused because he hated the script (which was good because it was obviously bad, even in the commercials.)

Ew, yeah! That movie wasn’t funny at all! I think they tried to get someone that sounded (and maybe resembled) Jack Black anyway. It was a pathetic attempt. I wonder if JB’s laughing at them? Which reminds me, has anyone seen Tropic Thunder? That movie was hilarious.
Anyway, agree to disagree, eh?

I saw Tropic Thunder - pretty great! I want to buy it on BluRay sometime.
And I think Dane Cook is great! Sure, I didn’t care for the movies he did much, but I still thought he was pretty funny!

I remember I bought the Vicious Circle DVD and I watched it a few times in a row and all I did was just laugh harder and harder each time. I especially love his whole tangent about the sneezing/athiest situation. My gosh, I never laughed so hard before!

Oh, man. Vicious Circle. My best friend is actually pretty obsessed with the guy so we got her VC for her birthday. We were up all night watching it. We laughed for half of it before most of us started passing out. But she was glued ALL night. It was a little disturbing. Heh heh…

I feel bad for Dane Cook. He’s a hard working guy who’s genuinely funny, but a number of things have happened, like dominos falling, that kind of make him uncool. He stole a few jokes, maybe on accident, from a funnier guy, Louis CK. He made some awful movies, who wouldn’t do a movie if you were offered? I know I’d do it. He’s really really popular as far as comedians go. That’s the deathnail, I think. He’s so commercially successful that he doesn’t have a niche audience. Comedy works for people who love comedy when the fans can point to all the people who don’t GET IT and elevate themselves above those people. It’s shallow snobbery, but that exists for a reason. Cook isn’t exploring new ground. He’s not a comedy pioneer, he’s comedy Wal-Mart. His jokes are generic and he proves, if you put in the time and you’re seriously committed to it, anybody can be a comic.
The only thing separating Dane Cook and the Shamwow guy, is one of them sells useless shit on TV and is annoying, and the other is the Shamwow guy.

His movies are absolutely abysmal. His comedy specials that I have seen were funny, but not hysterical.
