How often is a slot machine being audited for its payout percentage?

Just catch a worker opening the machine and try to jot down the coin in & coin out numbers inside the machine. I did in MN and it was 84% on a nickel slot. But I’m sure the triple 7’s nearby were paying 66%, just based on my play over an hour.
