This french expression means “before last”. It refers to a method of choosing which even money wager to bet on. Just as it implies the player, instead of using some complicated scheme for choosing a bet, simply bets on whatever came up the turn before last.
While this approach is used mostly by baccarat players it can be applied to any even money wager. Consider these examples:
if playing roulette the last two turns are:
1. red then black - we bet on red
2. black then black - bet on black
3. black then red - we bet on black
4. red then red - we bet on red
This system wins every turn when red and black alternate.
If there is a streak of red or black only the second turn in the streak is lost.
This system looses when red and black come in pairs. red red, black black, red red, black black - results in 8 consecutive losses
